Salesian Accompaniment of the Young
January 7-11, 2008
The study of the Salesian accompaniment has three inter-related objectives: which
will be examined over three years: a) (2008) To study the living experience of God within the life of
Don Bosco and to demonstrate clearly those experiences of mediation and participation which shaped him,
his vision, and his holiness; b) (2009) To understand how his foundational experience is captured,
updated and reapplied in our work and mission today; and (c) (2010) To explore this style of being
present to the young as a gift of the Holy Spirit to the Church in this post modern age.
Moving from the emerging need to collaborate and work in partnership, we realize that it is God who empowers us to engage in a shared common mission for the young. Don Bosco understood this mission as a collaborative ministry, many forces united. Today's challenge is to transition from the mission of the Salesians to the Salesian Mission.
Salesian Preventive System Today
January 21-25, 2008
Don Bosco articulated an original model of education that he call the "Preventive System".
How can we reapply this model to the rapidly changing realities in the lives of the young today? This course
will examine ways to reapply this model to the situations in which we educate, evangelize, animate and
accompany the young.
